Welcome to our latest project in the Highland village of Strathpeffer—a sturdy bungalow that has stood strong for nearly half a century. Our goal was to enhance its appearance and durability in the Highland climate, so we embarked on revitalising its exterior using sustainable Scots larch cladding, supplied by Russwood. This upgrade not only preserves the bungalow's character but also seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. It reflects our commitment to renovating homes that are both enduring and practical.

The once-sturdy harling has weathered and worn, and the paintwork, now flaking off, struggles to retain its former luster. Despite its aged facade, there's an enduring charm to this home, a testament to the memories and history it holds within its walls.
Our customer sought a solution that would not only enhance the bungalow’s appearance but also withstand the ever-changing climate of the Highlands. After careful consideration, we suggested cladding the home with larch. Larch is known for its remarkable strength and resilience, naturally resisting rot and decay, making it an ideal material for the damp and variable Highland climate. Unlike other types of wood, larch requires minimal maintenance, as its natural oils protect it from the elements, reducing the need for frequent treatments.
Enter Scots larch cladding—a transformative solution that breathes new life into the bungalow's weathered facade. What was once a weather-beaten structure now harmonises effortlessly with its surroundings, a fitting testament to the beauty of both nature and thoughtful design. Larch has a beautiful, warm hue that enhances the visual appeal of any structure, and over time, it weathers gracefully to a silver-grey patina, adding character and charm. The customer loved the Scots larch so much that we are going to preserve it longer by oiling it with Osmo, ensuring its natural beauty endures for years to come.
To further enhance the bungalow's aesthetic, we carried out tiling to match the grey tones of the exterior and window framing, ensuring a harmonious and cohesive look. Additionally, we added a Scots larch handrail, which perfectly complements the overall design.
